Ground Breaking Ceremony - New JAMAAT Building & Bolkiah Administrative Building
A ground breaking ceremony for the New JAMAAT Building and Bolkiah Administrative Building (JBBA) was held on 22nd July 2011, 10 am at Bolkiah Garrison. The Chief Guest, Deputy Commander of RBAF, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah officiated the ground breaking ceremony. Also attending the ceremony was the Director of Directorate of Development Work Services (DDWS), personnel from MINDEF, Consultants and distinguished guests.
New JAMAAT Building And Bolkiah Administrative Building
The building design was conceptualized into consideration the functional roles of the New JAMAAT and Bolkiah Administrative Building. The building was designed to figure two major and distinct forms. One, an elongated two and a half storey building with sloping roof and glass windows with sun-shades. The other is a circular dome-topped structure.
The dome is normally identified with mosque which symbolized the Islamic unity and strength. This form is therefore taken as an icon to symbolize the role of JAMAAT as caretaker of religious affairs in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. As Islam is one of the three components of the national ideology of MIB, the concept of the dome thus reflects the importance and respect the Royal Brunei Armed Forces accorded to the national ideology.
The sloping roof and the radiating strips of the sunshades represent rays of light or the rays of Islam emanating from the dome. This emphasizes that the services generated within the new building in particular will always be guided by the religious principles and virtues. The upward slope of the roof also symbolizes dynamism, and the unceasing will to do better and better for the sake of religion, country and nation.
The green colour is taken as the colour of Islam and the unifying colour of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
